Mardi Gras Masquerade Parties in Kansas City

Bring Bourbon Street to Kansas City: a live brass band second line, a mask bar, beads, king cake and a full New Orleans–style masquerade.

Mardi Gras season: January–March. Book early!

Carnival season, your way

Mardi Gras season begins on Twelfth Night, January 6, and builds all the way to Fat Tuesday. It is the most festive stretch of the New Orleans calendar — and the perfect excuse for a corporate party, a fundraiser or a private bash that feels nothing like the usual winter event.

Kansas City has no shortage of winter galas, which is exactly why a Mardi Gras masquerade stands out. Between Twelfth Night and Fat Tuesday our calendar for hotel ballrooms and private rooms around Leawood gets full fast — book early and claim the band.

Mardi Gras anytime

Carnival does not have to wait for February. “Mardi Gras anytime” parties are booked year-round — a June summer gala, an October fundraiser, a retirement send-off in Lee's Summit. The purple, green and gold works in any season, and a second line never goes out of style.

Why it works for every crowd

Corporate teams love it because it breaks the ice instantly — nobody stays on the wall when a tuba walks by. Fundraisers love it because the second line delivers guests into the auction room fired up. Private hosts love it because a king cake ceremony crowns a King or Queen of the party, and that story gets retold for years. All of it lives within the packages on our packages page.

FAQ

Mardi Gras Masquerade FAQ

Can you do Mardi Gras outside of February?

Yes. Carnival season runs from Twelfth Night (January 6) through Fat Tuesday, but “Mardi Gras anytime” themed parties are booked across Kansas City all year — summer galas, fall fundraisers, even retirement parties.

Do you provide king cakes?

The Mardi Gras Masquerade package includes the king cake ceremony, and our King Cake & Beads add-on supplies the cakes themselves for larger groups. Whoever finds the baby is crowned King or Queen of the party.

How much space does a second line need?

Less than you think. A clear path about six feet wide from entrance to dance floor is plenty — the band leads and guests fall in behind, waving handkerchiefs and parasols.

Can the band lead guests from cocktails to dinner?

That is one of our favorite moments. The brass band strikes up in the cocktail space and parades everyone into the dining room — it works beautifully in hotel ballrooms and country clubs.
